The “Mental Health Support in the Workplace & Community” course builds participants’ confidence and capability to recognise mental health challenges and respond with practical support, compassion, and appropriate action.

Course Overview

This course focuses on delivering meaningful, practical skills that can be applied across a wide range of settings. It is suitable for professionals working in healthcare, education, and community services, as well as individuals who want to foster supportive and mentally healthy environments within their workplaces or communities.

Participants explore psychosocial hazards—factors within workplaces or communities that can impact mental health, including stress, bullying, and workload pressures.

Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical workshops, participants develop the skills to recognise psychosocial hazards, understand their impact on individuals and teams, and respond in supportive and appropriate ways.

The course also introduces practical strategies for reducing psychosocial risks and promoting healthier environments that support wellbeing and resilience. Integrating these approaches helps organisations strengthen both mental health awareness and their capacity to respond effectively to challenges.

This training aligns with national competencies in the following units:

CHCCCS019 – Recognise and Respond to Crisis Situations
CHCMHS001 – Work with People with Mental Health Issues
